Merve Tekeli

Clinical Psychologist & Psychotherapist

About Me

Hello,
I am Merve Tekeli, a clinical psychologist and psychotherapist.

I find it deeply meaningful to witness how people’s relationships with themselves, others, and life evolve over time.

I view the therapeutic journey as a space for understanding and exploring the inner world, and for imagining new possibilities together.

  • Psychodynamic psychotherapy is a long-term process that helps individuals gain a deeper understanding of their inner world and relationships, while supporting their well-being.

It offers a space to recognize oneself within relationships and to experience a reparative form of relatedness.

Relational psychoanalytic approaches understand therapy as a co-created process of exploration within the therapeutic relationship, where both therapist and client participate in meaning-making. In this process, individuals begin to understand how past experiences shape their current relationships and develop more satisfying ways of relating.

Together, therapist and client explore how unconscious processes emerge both in everyday life and within the therapeutic relationship. This awareness allows for a new understanding of the past, as well as the transformation of symptoms and underlying inner conflicts, opening space for change in one’s personal narrative and relationships.

A few guiding ideas for understanding experience…

The present carries the past and the future.

Past experiences and future expectations are alive in the present moment

The self is relational.

We develop and come to know ourselves within relationships and context.

The other is internalized.

Self–other representations are shaped and internalized within relational experience.

Experience moves between conscious and unconscious processes.

What is not yet known continues to seek recognition, expression, and understanding.

  • “Without wearing any mask we are conscious of, we have a special face for each friend.”

    — Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr.
